THERE have been no matches played in the Okehampton Ladies Netball League over the Christmas break but the week before Christmas saw four matches being played. In Division 1 Sprites played Hatherleigh in what proved to be a very close game. At half time Hatherleigh were winning by 7 goals and looked to continue to increase their score, however Sprites refused to give up and produced some excellent netball. The final score at the end of the match was Hatherleigh 38, Sprites 37. In Division 2 Red Devils played 7 UP. Matches between these two teams are usually close and friendly rivalry always takes place. 7 UP looked quite comfortable at half time but Red Devils refused to be beaten and the score at full time was 7 UP 25, Red Devils 20. The positions at the end of the first half of the season are as follows: Division 1 1, Falcons; 2, Spitfires; 3, Speedwells; 4, Dodgers; 5, Magpies; 6, Cheriton Flyers; 7, Sprites; 8 joint, Mosaics, Hatherleigh. Division 2 1, Shooting Starz; 2, Starburst; 3, 7 UP; 4, Groovy Chicks; 5, Jesters; 6, Red Devils; 7, Ladybirds; 8, Breezers; 9, Helz Angels; 10, Maltesers. First matches after the Christmas break were played on Tuesday, January 4.
