A CORNUCOPIA of colourful blooms and heavenly scents greeted visitors to the 56th Bere Ferrers Spring Flower Show.
Visitors flocked to buy a selection of plants, blooms, produce, books and home-made refreshments and to view the award-winning exhibits.
Although overall entries were down on last year they were of a high quality, making the judges' decisions difficult. There were first-time exhibitors, and the children's 'garden in a seed tray' attracted many favourable comments.
Chairman Margaret Willmott thanked her committee, the judges, kitchen staff, Henry and Jean Hooper for their narcissi display and all who attended.
A new trophy, the Shirley Wakefield-Smith Memorial Cup, has been donated by the family in memory of Shirley's dedication to the show over many years. Mrs Ann Blithe, representing the family, urged the show committee and exhibitors to 'keep up the good work' as she presented the trophies.
Judges were Peter Argles, Alan Langsford, Mr P Palmer, Mrs Iris Merritt, Mrs Marion Lethbridge and Mr G Brown.
