THIS match was played at the neutral ground of Eggbuckland Community College in windy conditions. A nervous Tavistock made several attempts on goal, but failed to convert in this crucial semi-final.
The match began with an early goal from Saltash that appeared to galvanise the Thistles team, but to little effect. The line up of Snell, Pridham, Langton, Leeson, McCormack, Finbow, Quinn, Murphy, Lowther, Simmonds and Dunford worked hard and had some spectacular attempts at goal.
It was not until late in the second half that Langton managed to get the equaliser and refresh Thistles' hopes.
The game was taken into extra time and substitutions were made, bringing on Harvey, White and Jefferies.
Penalties were taken to decide the outcome and a good performance by the Saltash keeper kept Thistles at bay and denied them the victory.
All the Thistles team, including squad players not represented, should be thanked for getting themselves this far in the competition and all parents should be thanked for their sterling support.
