WITH tickets flying out the door for An Evening with Ricky 'hitman' Hatton on January 24, Plymouth Pavilions has announced that another sporting legend will grace their stage later this summer.
Joe Calzaghe, now undisputedly the greatest pound-for-pound fighter in the world, is coming to Plymouth Pavilions on Wednesday June 17.
He usually lets his fists do the talking, but is ready to go the distance with the audience in a no-holds-barred question and answer session.
Joe will be interviewed on stage by entrepreneur Terry Baker before taking questions from the floor.
BBC Sports Personality of the Year 2007, Joe has fought his way into the hearts of the British public who now recognise that he is a very special talent.
He silenced his American critics by beating legends of the ring Bernard Hopkins and Roy Jones Jnr in back to back fights.
Unbeaten for more than fifteen years, he has an astonishing 46 fights, 46 victories professional record and after dominating the super-middleweight division for a decade is now king of the light-heavyweights.
What does Joe plan for the future? His autobiography is called 'No Ordinary Joe' and the Pavilions audience will discover that he is an extraordinary Joe.
Supporting Calzaghe will be Britain's favourite fighter of all time, the one and only Sir Henry Cooper. He will be talking about his eventful and exciting career, including his fights with Muhammad Ali and THAT knock down of 'The Greatest' at Wembley.
To complete a wonderful night's entertainment, there will be hilarious impersonations from the fantastic sporting mimic Aaron Jones.
Marketing officer at Plymouth Pavilions, Robert Maltby, said: 'To have two of the world's boxing greats at the venue in the space of sixmonths is fantastic.
'For those South West sports fans who have followed Joe's 15 year career it will be the perfect evening to get up close and personal with their hero.'
