THIS weekend sees the start of the Okehampton Sports and Fitness Festival, with more than 40 different sports and activities making for a festival bigger and better than ever before.
In its eleventh year, the festival run by OCRA has a range of have-a-go sessions and competitions running from July 2 to 10.
Working with local clubs, instructors and facilities, OCRA has come up with a diverse programme for children, young people and adults.
As well as sports such as football, rugby, rounders and swimming making their usual appearance, there will be several new sports, including basketball, mixed netball, mountain boarding and scenic walks.
Exeter City Football Club, Plymouth Albion Rugby Club and muay thai world champion Christi Campbell are among those delivering the sessions.
The week's events kick off this Saturday July 2 with a fishing competition at Spires Lake and the spectacular Okehampton Skate Jam, taking place at Okehampton Skate Park.
Free event programmes are available now at Martin's, Donald's Menswear, Okehampton Library, Red Lion Bazaar, Parklands Leisure Centre and local post offices.
