AFTER a day on the moor enjoying fresh air and the amazing views, the Dunamis Youth Gospel Choir from London gave a great concert at Fairplace Church recently.
The choir were in town to raise funds for Devon Aid Korogwe (DAK), a charity providing clean water to people living in some of the most remote parts of Tanzania. The money raised at the event will be used to give families living in rural villages of the Korogwe region in Tanzania access to clean drinking water instead of dirty water taken from rivers and holes.
The choir was formed in January 2012, after a school choir in east London became so popular it proved too difficult to perform away from the school.
The choir, comprising singers aged from eleven to their mid 20s, offers a mix of nationalities, representing the multi-culturalism of London. In the past they have toured including performances in Bristol.
All funds raised for DAK go straight to their projects.
DAK helps rural villagers in Tanzania to access clean drinking water by motivating them to make a contribution towards each project with either a small sum of money for a skilfully hand-dug and lined well, or by participating with the digging of the trench for a pipeline. This gives them the feeling of ownership which then gives them the responsibility of maintenance.
