A MEMORIAL to past Mount House School staff, in the form of an armillary sphere, has been unveiled at the school by headmaster Jim Massey.

It was presented by the Mount House Association as a tribute to the many staff members who have contributed much to the school and its pupils over the years.

The armillary was commissioned by the association, and created by David Harber, whose three-dimensional designs, including custom-built sundials, and garden sculptures feature in homes and gardens all over the world. The original armillary sphere was designed by Ptolemy almost 2,000 years ago to illustrate the idea of a universe that revolved around the earth.

The armillary was presented to the school by Patrick Cashell, chairman of the Mount House Association in a brief ceremony on association day. It is positioned, appropriately, outside the staff room.

The association welcomes all past pupils, their parents, grandparents and friends of Mount House School. Its purpose is to enable past pupils to keep in touch with the school and their contemporaries and for the school to follow their progress over the years. It also supports various projects at the school.
