Speeding was play?s message

DRAMA students at Okehampton College performed their AS level examination piece in the Octagon Theatre recently.

The group performed Mark Wheeler?s Legal Weapon, a powerful play which aims to warn young people how speeding can destroy lives.

The play tells the story of Andy Bowen, a young man with a passion for speed which eventually catches up with him. The cast was Josh Grant as Andy, Amy Stephens as Jazzy Maihnah and Solly Jackman as Matt Irvine. Roles as narrators were taken by Robbie Forrester-Wilson and Danny Colton.

The group were grateful to PC Keith Bowden for all his advice from his experience dealing with road traffic accidents as well as helping with costumes and props.

Driving too fast kills approximately 1,000 people a year and the play aims to remind young people of the need to reduce speed and drive with care.
