A SCHEME which helps young people from 14 to 25 to develop their creative skills and potential is looking for more groups in West Devon to take advantage of the facilities available.
'Digital Express' is a Villages in Action project available to youngsters in rural areas in parts of Devon, including West Devon.
Professional artists and digital equipment are available to help them in their creativity and activities have included video shooting, editing and production; banner making; sound sampling, mixing and CD recording; digital photography and image creation and animation for websites.
Although the take-up in other areas has been good, project co-ordinator Jackie Parsons said in West Devon it had been slow.
'Groups in Tavistock, Okehampton and Hatherleigh will be taking part in the near future, but more enquiries would be very welcome,' she said.
Workshops can last for a half or full day, and groups can have several sessions to complete a project. 'The aim is to support young people with their ideas,' Jackie said.
Groups are asked to contribute £45 per workshop for a group of 10-12 young people, but Jackie said this was flexible and concessions could be made.
Sessions with professionals can be booked up to the end of August 2002 and more information is available from Jackie on 01364 631195 or from the website http://www.digitalexpress.org.uk">www.digitalexpress.org.uk
