PEOPLE lined the streets of Tavistock waving Union flags to support the Royal?Marines Speed March through Tavistock on the 70th anniversary of D-Day last Friday. The 1664 challenge in this part of the country involved marines from 42 Commando, Bickleigh, marching 64 miles through Devon and Cornwall. Along the way people were asked to donate to the Royal?Marines Charitable Trust. Among the supporters were children from?St Rumon's Church of England Infants School in Tavistock, many of whom have parents in the armed forces. Former Royal Marine Yorkie Malone, who is also secretary of the Royal Marines Association said: 'When have you seen troops marching through Tavistock? This was a rare sight to see and everything went off superbly. 'From the Royal Marines Association we are so thankful to the people of Tavistock who turned out to the event and who donated.
