THE speed limit through a West Devon village is to be reduced in an attempt to prevent accidents.
The speed limit on the A386 through Mary Tavy is to be altered from 40mph to 30mph.
Mary Tavy Parish Council discussed the recommendation by Devon County Council at its recent meeting.
The new restrictions will begin from just north of the Royal Standard to the existing speed limit sign to the south of Station Road.
Members of the parish council welcomed the speed reduction zone, but suggested it could be extended for a longer stretch of the road.
In the last two months, the Okehampton Traffic Department has been focusing attention on the problem of speeding through Mary Tavy.
