NOVEMBER is a time for remembering. Not just remembering those who have died serving their country but also those who have lost their lives closer to home. RoadPeace is a charity for road crash victims, supporting those who have been bereaved or injured on roads. They will be holding a service of remembrance, for people who have lost their lives on local roads, at St Andrew?s Parish Church, Ashburton on Sunday November 18 at 3pm. Cllr Ken Williams, the area coordinator for RoadPeace, said: ?Particularly we remember those from Okehampton and Tavistock areas. ?Originally, six years ago, we lit 50 candles to commemorate lives lost; we now light over 80.? There are more than 3,500 deaths each day on the world?s roads and around 150,000 injuries. Several local families have been helped by RoadPeace, whose helpline number is 0845 4500355. Cllr Williams said: ?The Helpline, for a while coordinated from Okehampton, is the first contact for bereaved families. ?Support is given with the legal processes and bureaucracy following tragedies and access to agencies including counselling.?
