FIVE West Devon primary schools took part in the annual Cross Country Weaver Cup competition, which took place at a new venue this year — Willey Farm in Sticklepath.

With a course of just under two miles and the sun beating down, it proved quite a challenge for the teams representing schools from South Tawton, Chagford, North Tawton, Okehampton and Hatherleigh.

More than 100 children took part and they certainly seemed to enjoy this new course. As usual, it was a wonderful event and all the schools should be very proud as their pupils who proved to be excellent ambassadors for their schools.

The fastest boy was Joseph Stratton and the fastest girl, Nya de Kock Jewell, both from South Tawton Primary. The overall winners were South Tawton but all the participants should be congratulated on their fine performances.

At the end of the day, Becky and Jim Mawle who run Willey Farm were able to have a double celebration, not only did they host a fantastic event, but their daughter Imogen was in the winning team!
