HOW lucky Okehampton Rotary Club were to have such a sunny day on a bank holiday weekend. I'm sure they must have made lots of money for all the good causes they support.

However, I felt there was one part of their show they neglected. I'm sorry to say it was the site of the boot fair. Why do I say this? Because I was part of it. We paid our fiver to put up our stalls and were told to set up in the car park. Not the main car park, but the one behind the hedge out of view from the main attractions.

A lot of people came in from different entrances other than the main gate and told me after the event that they did not know we were there! Like us, they thought we would be in the field with the rest of the action.

I just hope next time they get it right. After all, there is a very wide choice of boot fairs we could have gone to.
