THE 2010 Son-Rise Cup for Autism Football Festival will take place on May 8 and 9 this will support Young Devon (Carers Group held on Tuesdays at Tavistock Youth Cafe) and Tavistock Youth Cafe Plus and Tavvy AFC Specials.

At a well supported meeting at The Red and Black Club at Tavistock AFC last week chair Cathy Sharp thanked the businesses from our area who support this rapidly growing event. 13 trophies will be played for all sponsored by local businesses, match balls for each cup game and 'I Love Candy' sweet prizes for all the children who take part. Heart Radio will host the event where some 500 football players will take part!

The theme this year is to coincide with The Bob Champion Cancer Trusts, Champions 60:60 event http://www.champins6060.org.uk">www.champins6060.org.uk which TYCP secretary Allen Lewis is a promoter of the cancer charity for male cancer!

Allen said: 'Blue and white, Aldaniti's famous colours, are the order of the day and the fantastic support I have had from the National Hunt Racing Industry has helped me raise thousands of pounds for local causes and this is a way to say thank you to them. 'Bob Champion's team are working closely with me now to help many, many people and to have them upsides is fantastic!'

Derek Pethick, chairman of Tavistock AFC, attended the meeting and was in full support of helping the Tavvy Specials,which boasts 18 members in the squad!
