A MUSICAL gala event will serve as the culmination of a day of action by voluntary groups next month in aid of the Okehampton tsunami relief effort. The day?s events on Saturday, March 12, will start with coffee mornings in the Church and Charter Halls and in Fairplace Church, closely followed by home-cooked lunch at Fairplace and, to finish, cream teas in the museum courtyard and church hall. In the evening, the first Okehampton Gala Night will take place in the college sports hall. This musical event, with local bands, groups and singers all giving their time free, will make the evening one that the town will remember. Entrance to the event is free as a thank you for all the money raised so far ? but there will of course be the chance to make donations to the appeal. Judy Pride, event co-ordinator said: ?We are hoping that everyone will want to come along ? there will certainly be something for everyone. ?Details of what?s planned for this party night will be published nearer the day, so put the date in your diary, get a party of friends together and watch this space!?
