THE first round of the Pretoria Handicap Cup in the Okehampton and District Table Tennis League saw a few surprise results.
Tavistock A, Oke Young Ones B and Anchorage B all received byes. In the five matches that were played Moretonhampstead beat a two man Bridestowe team 5-2. Okehampton A beat Okehampton B 7-0 although the games were much closer than the final result suggests. Academy A beat this years division two champions North Wyke 7-0 and Milton Abbot beat The Young Ones (who only had two players) 5-2.
In the other game The J Team faced Anchorage A who also only had two players but Martin Fowler and Bob Vella pulled out all the stops for Anchorage A winning the four singles needed to take the match 3-4.
