MUSIC lovers are in for a treat next Wednesday, February 13, when top flautist, Lucille Burns, visits the Kelly College Concert Society with her piano accompanist, Catherine Milledge. Lucille studied at Edinburgh University, and Trinity College of Music London, gaining a distinction in her final recital. In February 2004 she was a finalist in the Royal Overseas League Competition and since then her career as a solo, chamber and orchestral player has taken her all over the world. Catherine Milledge has earned a most distinguished reputation as a pianist. Following her studies at Oxford and the Guildhall School, she won the Birmingham Accompanist of the Year Competition in 2001, and now is in constant demand accompanying many of this country's finest recitalists. The duo's programme includes works by the French composers Debussy and Gaubert and a number of contemporary British works including the first performance of the Flute Sonata specially composed for Lucille by Tavistock composer, Andrew Wilson. The concert begins at 7.45pm in the Melvin Hall at Kelly College, tickets, priced at £9 (students £7, under 18s free) will be available on the door.
