A SPONSORED penalty shoot-out with Plymouth Argyle finally kicked-off at Bridestowe Primary School last week after being postponed twice because of the weather.

Having enjoyed six football coaching sessions provided by Argyle's professional coaches as part of their 'Football in the Community' scheme, the Key Stage 2 pupils invited them back to say thank you, while helping to raise funds for the school.

The 24 children, aged 7 to 11, cheered on by headteacher Shân Malden, staff, infants and parents, enjoyed a crisp sunny morning testing their skills against Argyle ladies' player Debbie Lake.

The event came to a thrilling climax when pupils Simon Heard, Emily Neale and Adam Cann went on to a sudden death play-off.

The eventual winner, ten-year-old Adam Cann, will be invited to join other schools at a future event at Argyle's Home Park ground.

The pupil raising most sponsorship money will be presented with a leather football signed by the team at a future assembly.
