WITH regard to all the letters which have been published in the Times recently, I would like to thank Paul Mercer — for without all the correspondence I would never have found this wonderful spot —  Lower Grenofen — never having been there before and not knowing where it was or anything about it.

But on reading the letters week after week, I thought to myself that I must try to find this place that people feel so strongly about.

And no wonder!  Having easily found it, by using the descriptions in the many letters over the weeks, I can see why people feel passionate to protect such an idyllic and unique spot.

I cannot adequately describe how wonderful it is to walk by the river with no noise other than the gentle sound of the water.

To see such an array of wildlife and fauna, to hear and see so many different birds.

It is so peaceful, tranquil and very pretty — and free to park to boot! It is now my favourite place to walk the dog and chill out.

It would be a disaster, for very many reasons,  to have a wedding venue anywhere in the area, to spoil this fantastic place with added traffic and noise.

This would detract from what a local and unspoilt woodland like this is all about.

I am just so glad to have come across it, albeit that it was at the expense of a planning application that was (seemingly rightly in my opinion) turned down for all the right reasons.

But thanks Mr Mercer!
