Devon D
Feniton firsts v
Yelverton firsts
AS Yelverton Bohemians arrived at the ground they were greeted with rain so play was to be delayed meaning each team would be playing 40 overs.
Skipper Richard West won the toss and asked the home team to bat on a very damp track. The Feniton openers got off to a good start reaching 50 without loss before the two Yelverton openers Braughton and Bennett both got the openers out along with good catches by Cunningham and Hobbs.
Skipper Mark Kingdon top scored with 53 whilst Graham Tucker (27), Norman Bedford (22) and Martin Swannell (21), provided the best of the supporting acts. Geoff Brain took 4-52 for Yelverton as this took the home sides score up to 196-9 which was a competitive score on such a damp wicket.
Yelverton's run chase started off well with openers David Scott and Rob Bennett taking the score up to 60 without loss before Scott (29) was caught by J French, this brought Colin Braughton to the crease and the score accelerated to 122 before Braughton was given lbw for 45.
Yelverton reached 176-4 overs remaining before Bennett was finally caught for 75. Yelverton's lower order did well but needing two to win off the last delivery, bowled by Jonathan French, the ball was chipped to third man where Russ Whitton held a catch to leave Yelverton finishing on 194-9.
That last ball wicket sealed a five for 45 haul for French. Feniton (13pts) drew with Yelverton (10pts).
