THERE'S nothing like a local panto — oh, yes there is. Oh no there isn't!

And to prove the point, Whitchurch Players and Dancers are taking to the stage with their festive production of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.

Written by founder member of the Players, Carole Eager, the panto includes all sorts of characters. There will be the usual principals Snow White, the Dwarfs, the handsome Prince and the Wicked Queen — but also 'the real Millennium bug', panto dame, Viagra Golightly, and even a pair of sheep . . .

More than 30 local children from Miss Trudi's Stage Group are joining the Players this year.

Formed in 1974, the Players have always held their annual panto in the Whitchurch Parish Hall — but became homeless this year due to hall refurbishments. Cue: 'Ahhhhhhh!'

But — this has not stopped them putting on a panto. They are performing at the Wharf. Cue: Applause!

'Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs' is at the Wharf from Thursday, January 25 to Saturday, January 27 evenings 7.30pm and a Saturday matinee. Box office: (01822) 611166.
