THE Bridestowe community have come to expect the unexpected from the Phoenix Youth Theatre pantomimes, and this year will be no exception.

Tomorrow (Friday) and Saturday, January 9, the company will put on its fourth production, Snow White.

However, this is not the traditional pantomime that many will be familiar with, but a modern version, written by youth theatre members themselves.

There will still be a beautiful girl called Snow White and a wicked, vain woman with a talking mirror who tries to poison her, but that is as close to the original story as it gets.

There are seven people who befriend Snow White, but not dwarves as in the original tale. Instead, they are farmers who work on a most unusual farm. The rest of the cast is comprised of a variety of colourful characters, some good, some dodgy and even a couple of very well known characters who cannot find the way to their own pantomime.

The pantomime will take place on January 8 and 9 at 7.45pm in Bridestowe Village Hall.
