THREE fire crews were called to Milton Abbot on December 21 after a report of a fire at a property in Tamar View.

Two crews from Tavistock and one from Cornwall attended just after 7.40am and confirmed the building was heavily smoke logged and requested Western Power to attend to isolate electrics.

The fire in the domestic property involved an area approximately 6m x 6m on the ground floor.

One elderly woman was removed from the property before the arrival of the fire service with effects of smoke inhalation. Crews administered first aid and oxygen while awaiting arrival of ambulance staff.

The fire was in a pantry and 90% was damaged by heat and smoke. The remainder of the property was heavily smoke damaged. Four breathing apparatus sets, two hose reel jets, one thermal image camera and two dry powder extinguishers were used to tackle the blaze.

Firefighters requested the attendance of the British Red Cross Fire and Emergency Support Services to attend the incident.

l A FIRE crew from Tavistock was sent to a report of a chimney on fire in a property at Gulworthy Cottages, Gulworthy at 7.21pm on December 28.

On arrival, the crew confirmed a chimney fire involving an open fire. Chimney gear was used to deal with the incident.
