Cullompton Girls U15s 10

THE first game of the season turned out to be very productive for Tavistock girls who ran in seven tries against a big Cullompton side.

Tavistock played some good rugby, A first half hat-trick from skipper Beth Neave set the tone along with a great platform being set by the Tavistock forwards at scrum time, assured a great game of rugby.

Many girls played in new positions, notably Cowie and Huntly creating a good half back partnership, and player of the match McCall at centre making many strong runs and big tackles as well as touching down a try and converting two others.

Further tries came from Huntly, Jo and Kirby scoring her first for the club. Abby Sleep played her debut game at the tough position of prop alongside her sister Sam, who as ever was strong up front.

Many of the girls will trial next week for the county alongside the U18s and coaches.

l Beth Neave has recently been selected for the RFUW schools of rugby programme. It is a programme set up across the country with the aim to develop the most talented young female rugby players for the future and into the few premiership rugby academies.
