STUDENTS were given the chance to test their knowledge and demonstrate their skill at the summer club grading held at Okehampton Judo Club.

Those successful are listed with their new grade: primaries (U10 years) Caleb Bourne — two orange tabs, Taylor Mansfield and Sam Cawse — two blue tabs. Juniors (U16 years) Robert Wood (three yellow tabs), Emma Timmins, Alfie Budd and Nathan Bostock — yellow belt, Robyn Ranford — yellow belt one orange tab, Eleanor Cawse yellow belt two orange tabs, Ella Percival orange belt two green tabs, orange belt three green tabs.

Seniors: Hannah Coombes, Emma, Peter and Yan Whitchurch fifth Kyu yellow belt.

Coaching award: James Mansfield qualified as a level one coach, successfully completing the two day course with the BJC technical director Akinori Hosaka sensei, eight Dan Kodokan and also was awarded his BJC Grade of second Kyu blue belt by Hosaka Sensei.

The club meets at Fairplace Church every Monday evening, excluding school holidays, juniors from 7pm to 8pm, seniors 8pm until 9.30pm.
