THE refurbished Throwleigh Centre for Young People will be officially re-opened on Friday, September 21.

Sir Michael Hobbs, national director of the Outward Bound Trust, will open the old primary school at Providence, Throwleigh, as a much improved facility for young people visiting Dartmoor.

The old school has been used for years, by the pupils from Okehampton College and young people involved in the Duke of Edinburgh's Award, as a base for all kinds of outdoor education.

The centre has been transformed to include more beds, and better provision and support.

The relaunch had been delayed because of the foot and mouth crisis.

The refurbishment was made possible by Heritage Lottery funding and support given by Devon County Council and Dartmoor National Park Authority as well as the determined efforts of the new charitable company Trustees.
