TAVISTOCK Sir Francis Drake Bowling Club's 87th season came to a close with the annual dinner and presentation of trophies evening held at Tavistock College.

Tavistock deputy mayor and mayoress, Ken and Jenny Sanders, presented trophies for some 13 competitions completed during the season.

The club men's championship trophy was collected by Eric Stevens after he beat runner-up Mike Allen in a thrilling final.

The ladies' championship trophy was won by Hazel Lovell, who beat Jean Flay in the final.

The men's section handicap competition resulted in a winner's trophy for Mike Allen after he beat Derek Bradford in the final. Mike also collected the two wood trophy after beating runner-up Eric Stevens in the final.

The men's Kerswill trophy was won by Ray Meneer, with Pat Sykes collecting the runner-up award. Roy Northam won the Muzzlewhite trophy, with Sandy Sanders runner-up. Mike Allen and Norman Paramor picked up the pairs trophy after beating Roy Northam and Brian Preece in the final.

In the mixed competitions, Arthur Worth and Yvonne Meneer won the pairs trophy by beating Rob Bowhay and Jenny Aldridge.

Marion Allen, Mike Allen and Rob Bowhay won the mixed triples trophy by beating the family team of Joan Northey, Wallace Northey and Gordon Northey in the final.

The new Bryan Parker Memorial Trophy was awarded to Mike Allen after he beat new ladies' champion Hazel Lovell by 2 sets to 1 in the final.

The ladies' handicap trophy was picked up by Marion Allen after her victory over runner-up Henny Bawden in what was a close run final.

Marion also collected the ladies' winner's trophy with the runner-up trophy being collected by Yvonne Meneer.

Marlene Paramor collected the Jackie Fenner trophy after beating Hazel Lovell in the final, and the Vi-Hinnett trophy was awarded to the team Marion Allen, Dorice Hicks and Joan Solly following their victory over runners-up Joyce Drew, Jenny Aldridge and Anne Doidge.

The ladies' pairs trophy went to Jean Flay and Dorice Hicks, who had beaten Betty Browse and Freda Issac in the final.
