IT may have been quiet recently, but it has given Tavistock Golf Club members the opportunity to concentrate on the Sir Francis Drake Winter foursomes.
After last weekend, seven of the eight quarter finalists are known. This round must be completed by January 26.
The draw is:
R Steer and M Beveridge v A Coe and J Coe
To be decided v P Leverton and B Howson
J Gawman and A Gawman v D Pethick and G R Kelly
J Tucker and J Ruth v S Washer and D Puttock.
From that draw one must feel that the winner will emerge from the bottom half, where handicap will be an important aspect.
There were two stableford competitions. Results were as follows:

Division 2 -1 M Craze, 30; 2 M Western, 30; 3 R Wraith, 29; 4 D N J Lobb, 28; 5 P Mahoney, 27; 6 M Youlden, 27.
The midweek event was won comfortably by Mark German, by six points, from the rest of the field: 1 M German, 39 points; 2 G Bradford, 33; 3 R S Steer, 32; 4 J Gynne, 32; 5 K M Cole, 32; 6 R J Hellman, 31.
