A FORMER Kelly College student is singing her way to stardom after making it through to the second round of a national competition, writes Lindsay Bright. Sarah-Elizabeth Williams, 16, from Gulworthy has always felt she was destined to be a singer. She aimed to prove to herself she could make it by entering Live and Unsigned, a national music competition for unsigned bands and singers to perform live. The competition, which is soon to make its way onto TV screens, sees bands, vocal groups and solo artists female or male, perform for 50 seconds each, in front of five judges, who include Liz McClarnon from Atomic Kitten and Dane Bowers from former R&B boyband Another Level. The difference with Live and Unsigned and other TV shows is that acts taking part are encouraged to do their own thing; be individual, original, perform their own genre and style live. The competition's aim is to find potential recording artists. Sarah-Elizabeth took to the stage at Birmingham for 50 seconds in the under 18s category and performed 'Troy' a song by Sinead O'Connor. After an agonising long wait she was told she had made it through to the second round at Wolverhampton on March 15 — beating thousands. If Sarah- Elizabeth makes it through to the final it will be held in Birmingham in April. Sarah-Elizabeth said: 'I thought I would be really scared, but it was really good fun.' Sarah-Elizabeth has 30 tickets at £6 each for the semi-final. Anyone interested in going should call 07857 286106.
