HELP with getting online will be on offer at Okehampton Library next week. The session is aimed at anyone over 50 as part of the Silver Surfers? Week events. Whether it?s shopping, family history, a hobby or managing your finances ? all this can be done online and much more besides, once you know how. The online introduction session will run from 10am to noon on Monday, May 22. Booking is essential as places are limited. Silver Surfer Week is not about technology, but rather about how to ensure that older people are able to live life to the full, learn new skills and ensure they have access to services and interests which allow them to take the initiative in living their lives the way they want to. Previous Silver Surfer activities have engaged almost 5,000 older people, showing them the advantage of getting online. This year, it is hoped to build on that success with the aim of reaching 10,000 new computer users to help develop their confidence and familiarity in getting the most out of computers and the world wide web.
