Whitchurch Montessori Nursery celebrated its 25th birthday on Saturday with a barbecue and garden party ? and one youngster (pictured) made sure to guard the celebratory cake! Despite the weather everyone toasted 25 successful years of the nursery. The last 18 years have been at Whitchurch Methodist Church and plans are in the pipeline, with the church, to expand the floor area to give the children more space. Valerie Davenport, chairperson said: ?All the parents and pupils, past and present, love the nursery?s warm and friendly atmosphere. We can look back on 25 years of strong foundations ? now it is up to us to ensure the nursery prospers for future generations to enjoy just as much.? Jan Iles, the director of teaching said she had seen the nursery develop and grow with the help of the past and present parent committees together with the parental support of the children. ?I am looking forward to the future,? she said.
