FAMILY and friends of a long-term Calstock resident have planted a tree in her memory.

Jane Locke, who started the Calstock playgroup, was an ardent fundraiser and popular lady of the parish.?She died in September, at the age of 54.

A silver birch tree was planted at the bottom of the adit, on The Quay at Calstock where Mrs Locke used to live.

Kelly Couter, whose children Lauren and Samuel Stapleton are pictured with the tree, said Mrs Locke was like a surrogate grandmother to her children.

'Jane lived in Calstock for 30 years but moved to Tavistock five years ago,' she said. 'She was a very well known person in the village and was loved by everyone.'

The tree planting was endorsed by Mrs Locke's two sons, Mark and Adam Baker.
