OKEHAMPTON?S Excelsior Silver Band continue to trumpet their way to success. At the recent South West Brass Band Contest, held in Torquay, the band were awarded the Shield for third place in the fourth section. This is the sixth time in the long history of the competition that the band have held the shield. The next performance by the band will be at the Edwardian Evening on Thursday December 6, when they will be providing music for the mayor?s carol service. This will be followed by the band?s Christmas concert and coffee evening on Monday December 10 at the Charter Hall. Starting at 7.30pm, this will be an evening of traditional brass music and a chance to hear the music they played at the South West Brass Band Contest.
