A PRESTIGIOUS award has been presented to a Tavistock woman for her ?outstanding service? to girlguiding. Kate Harding has worked with Tavistock guides since 1971 and has held a number of appointments at Devon County and South West Region levels ? culminating in a five year term as Devon County Commissioner. Her outstanding service and commitment to girlguiding was recognised at a special ceremony in Exeter earlier this month, where she was presented the ?Silver Oak Leaf Award?. Mrs Harding said: ?It has been a tremendous pleasure to see so many girls and young women develop confidence and community spirit through their involvement in guiding. ?While I am delighted to accept this award, I pay tribute to the great support I have enjoyed from fellow guiders in Tavistock and throughout Devon.?
