BELSTONE Players present rib-tickling entertainment as they bring to life the colourful characters in Alan Bennett's farce, Habeas Corpus.
The production runs from Wednesday March 17 to Saturday March 20 in Belstone Village Hall at 7.30pm.
The play lays bare the amorous events that overtake the Wicksteed family and their acquaintances in the late 1960s through a maze of mistaken identities, passionate encounter, and unsuppressed desires.
An effervescent Mrs Swabb, Edwina Hill, and reflective Dr Wicksteed, Peter Radlett, superbly combine to help tell the tale as hilarious confusion reigns.
Theresa Weaver, Simon Herbert and Lynn Daniel playing the doctor's daughter, son and wife create marvellous characters seeking to be released by the swinging sixties.
Canon Throbbing, Malcolm Calder, and Felicity Rumpers, Jane Herbert, splendidly reflect the desires, hopes and wishes of many to experience the permissive society.
Margaret Martin, Lady Rumpers, Bob Weaver, Mr Shanks, and Chris Bloor, Sir Percy, create magnificent characters that add to the mayhem caused by mistaken identities and passionate encounters, while Robert Reddington's splendidly subdued Mr Purdue puts the finishing touch to a production of which director Robin Hill and the entire company can be proud.
