AN exhibition of paintings, artwork and claymaking is being launched at The Wharf in Tavistock on Monday, much of which has been produced by participants in a group working with post traumatic stress disorder.

The ten-week Stresscare Colour Wheel Self Empowerment pilot project is the brainchild of Tavistock artist Caroline Keane. The project aims to aid recovery from severe stress and post traumatic stress disorder, particularly related to servicemen and women, using colour and art therapy.

Caroline's own artwork, together with her books and poetry focusing on projects in India, Africa, North America, Australia and West Devon, will also feature in the exhibition.

Caroline suffered with PTSD herself, following her experiences in the civil war in Zimbabwe in 1987.

Since then she has studied and trained with experts in the UK and USA and practised techniques with veterans from the Vietnam War and with children and family trauma therapy groups.

The exhibition launch takes place between 6pm and 8pm at The Wharf in Tavistock on Monday, December 3.

A cash bar will be available and there will also be a demonstration of drumming during the evening, between 6.30pm and 7.30pm.
