THE Ministry of Defence is warning that the Loop Road access to the higher moorland areas of Dartmoor may be obstructed by road works during February.
The MOD, which is licensed to use this area by the Duchy of Cornwall, aims to carry out various repairs to the road from Moorgate — where the Royal Engineers recently built a bridge to replace a ford, that was previously the only means of crossing the stream — to White Bridge, near the entrance to East Okement farm.
Defence Estates spokesman John Loch said contractors could not be too specific about the start and finish dates for the resurfacing work, as it was weather-dependent.
'We regret any inconvenience that these road repairs may cause, but we are assured the road will be left accessible in the evenings after work ceases,' he said.
