BATs Badminton Club was recently certificated as one of Badminton England?s Silver Clubs. John Edwards, the South West Regional development officer for Badminton England, made the presentation where he commended the coaching and work done by Heather Cooper and her coaching team. BATs Badminton Club now becomes one of just four clubs in the South West to gain this accolade. To gain the award Heather and the coaches of BATs Badminton Club have had to attend courses on all aspects of badminton, including its coaching and the welfare of the players, plus all the coaches have had to be CRB checked so that they can work with young people and adults. Gaining Silver Club status is a next step forward for BATs Badminton Club. Currently the club runs a junior coaching night and an adult club night where, once the juniors are ready, up and coming players can experience adult badminton. The club also runs a team in the local Plymouth and District Badminton League where notable successes have been had over the years.
