THE eyes of the music world were on Glastonbury Festival last weekend — and many of them will have seen the small village of Sheepwash proudly flying its flag.

Much of the focus for the event was on the Pyramid Stage on Saturday, as rock legends the Rolling Stones prepared for their debut set at the festival.

Throughout the day and during the set of the Stones, a Devon flag flew proudly in front of the stage, with Sheepwash emblazoned on it. The flag was prominent throughout BBC coverage of the event.

The flag belonged to Sheepwash residents Buster and Anna Jones. It was the third time the couple have been to the festival, and as well as flying the flag for their village, they flew a second one to promote a fundraising campaign for their grandson, Jenson Tucker.

Jenson, aged two, was diagnosed with spastic diplegia, a form of cerebral palsy, at six months old. Shortly after he turned one year old he was also diagnosed with epilepsy.

The couple are aiming to raise £65,000 so Jenson can travel to America and have a selective dorsal rhizotomy (SDR) operation. The procedure aims to reduce spasms caused by Jenson's condition. The money will also be put toward physiotherapy and special equipment to help get him on his feet following the operation.

Anna Jones said: 'We were walking around the festival handing out flyers, and people were stopping us, asking us about Jenson, giving us money, and texting the donation line. The atmosphere at the festival is so wonderful, and people were showing that as we walked around.'

As well as promoting Jenson's cause, the couple took the time to enjoy the amazing music on offer. Predictably, the Rolling Stones proved to be the highlight for Buster.

He said: 'It has got to be the Stones, they were just tremendous. They really were fantastic. But there was so much good music throughout the weekend, Mumford and Sons were brilliant, and so was Kenny Rogers. It was a great weekend, and it was good to put Sheepwash on the map too.'
