Tavistock U15s v Cornwood U15s
IN the top of the table clash, Tavistock won the toss and fielded first. Henry Kisby and Will Smith opened the bowling.
Kisby bowled at a fast pace and bowled tight to the stumps conceding few runs and was unlucky not to pick up a wicket. Smith made the break through when he had Staddon superbly caught on the boundary by Kieran Alford. Ryan Rickard continued to bat well for Cornwood but was well caught by Dominic Scaglioni off the bowling of Jamie Stephens.
Tavistock's fielding was good all game in particular Tim Pope, Mikey Cousens and Dominic Scaglioni who protected the short boundaries . Stephens picked up his second wicket of the game and then introduced Freddie Jayarajah to the attack who made an immediate impact picking up a wicket in his first over. Jayarajah went on to take a further three wickets in a devastating spell of bowling, conceding just 12 runs from four overs.
Rhys Davies was also in top form behind the stumps taking a magnificent stumping off the quick bowling of Jayarajah. Aidan Mason picked up the final Cornwood wicket restricting them to 99 for eight of 20 overs.
Tavistock opened the batting with Rhys Davies and Dominic Scaglioni and both took their attack to the Cornwood bowlers straight away. Scaglioni was the first to go after he got a bottom edge and got caught by Rickard fielding in short. This brought Tim Pope to the crease and himself and Davies put on a 25 run partnership before Davies was well caught on the boundary for 22. Pope continued to bat well and after losing another wicket Freddie Jayarajah was introduced to the crease. Both batted sensibly against a tight bowling attack and worked the ball well all around the ground playing some delightful shots.
Pope 21 not out and Jayarajah 25 not out managed to see Tavistock over the winning line and win the game by seven wickets.
