AT Tavistock Golf Club ladies' section's annual meeting, Gloria Westhead took over from Sharon Williams as the new lady captain and Wendy Hanwell became the vice-captain.
Despite the foot and mouth outbreak, which meant the course was closed for four months, Sharon had had a good year as captain and worked hard to make it happy and successful.
During September the ladies' section had plenty of competitions, the first being the closed meeting on September 4.
Results were: best net score and Chris Leach trophy, Sally Timpson; best scratch score, Marjorie Greening.
First silver, Maggie Hillman; second, Val White; third Lesley Moore; fourth Jenny Hutchinson.
First bronze, Sally Timpson; second, Janet Norman; third Gabrielle Greening; fourth Fran Callard.
On September 11 the Marilyn Allen Past Captains' trophy and medal were played. Winner of the trophy was Pat Hoar and runner-up was Sandra Mackenzie. The LGU pendant was won by Lyn Alderman.

Division 2: Lyn Alderman; runner-up Phyllis Ingerson.
On September 18 the monthly stableford was played and results were: Division 1, winner, Val White; Division 2, Sue Gowing; Division 3, Barbara Ham.
On September 23 the Grandmother's Cup and extra medal were played. The cup was won by Pat Hoar and runner-up was Anthea Kelsey.
The extra medal result was: Division 1, Lesley Moore; runner-up Fran Horton.
Division 2, Kay Butler; runner-up Kay Bolster.
