THE Tamar Mining Heritage Project has already attracted £6 million pound worth grant funding, strongly helped by its links to the World Heritage bid. Tim Selman of Tamar Valley AONB Service said the capital programme for the project was just about to begin ? and he was determined that local businesses should benefit from the investment. Mr Selman said: ?We have a multi-million pound programme here and we want the experience and interest from all sorts of local firms and craftsmen. ?There?s loads of stuff, from new building to conservation work, forestry, fencing, agriculture ? all sorts of things. We are trying to design the programme to benefit local people ? we want to keep this money in the valley.? Mr Selman said residents would be able to see the investment benefits ?really quickly?. An open day for anyone interested in tendering for Tamar Valley Mining Heritage Projects is warmly welcomed to an open day at Morwellham Quay next Wednesday July 26, between 4pm and 7pm.
