YOUNGSTERS from Callington are due to join others from all over Devon at a special event aimed at tackling bullying being held in Teignmouth tomorrow (Friday). At a special presentation at Teignmouth Community College, the youngsters will share their ideas about combating bullying in schools in association with the Childline in partnership with Schools (CHIPS). CHIPS encourages young people to reject bullying, take responsibility for themselves and helps them empathise with others through peer support programmes including befriending, listening and mediation. Judith Moore, CHIPS co-ordinator in the South West, said: ?We?re delighted about the enormous success that CHIPS has enjoyed in the South West. In less than two years we?ve worked with hundreds of children in dozens of primary and secondary schools, special schools, a brownie group and a young carers? group. ?The response we have had demonstrates that schools recognise the need to deal with issues that concern young people and know that these are best tackled by the yong people themselves, with adult input and help.?
