THE Terry Bennett Centre at Fairplace Church recently celebrated its seventh birthday with a special thanksgiving service led by the Rev Sheila Scarr and followed by a buffet lunch. More than 50 people attended the Tuesday morning service and later shared a birthday cake baked and decorated by Mrs Valerie Bennett. The centre was established in 1999 following extensive church refurbishment and has steadily grown in strength. It is now open for coffee and fellowship on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday morning as well as Thursday afternoons. On the second Tuesday of each month, a short period of worship is held in the church. The centre also offers a good range of books for loan as well as a bookshop which provides Christian books as well as gifts and cards for sale.
