OKEHAMPTON Colts were invited to play in the Cornwall Sevens competition held at Launceston last Sunday and had a very successful day.
They were drawn in a strong pool consisting of Ivybridge, North Petherton, Newquay Hornets (who won the Bowl competition) and a Cornish Barbarians side.
Okehampton managed to win three of the four matches and narrowly lost to Ivybridge 12-10 after squandering several good try-scoring opportunities, to leave them in the plate semi-final against Truro, winning 19-14.
Okehampton went into the final against Liskeard-Looe.
The West Devon team won comfortably winning 29-10 and amassing a tremendous 185 points in the process being one of the few teams that could play good flowing sevens rugby.
Top try-scorers were Jamie Stevens and Tom McGratton, the rest of the squad being Jake Chisholm, Luke Crocker, Stuart Bennie, Carl Poynton, Richard Friend, Brad Hudson, Darcy Heard, Andrew Fishleigh and Kevin Dennis.
