SUPERMARKET giant Morrisons is set to extend its premises in Tavistock if it gets the go ahead from West Devon Borough Council. Morrisons has applied to extend the present sales floor, warehouse and freezer facilities. Plans submitted propose to increase the sales area by 3,000 square feet and the warehouse facility by 2,400 sq ft. The neighbour consultation date to be submitted to the borough council expires on January 1. The next meeting of the council's planning committee is on January 9, when the plans could be discussed. Gary Bolton, a spokesman for Morrisons, said: 'If the plans go ahead, an increase of sales space and warehousing will obviously mean more stock availability on the shelves for our customers. 'Also, if the increase in sales floor space does go ahead in the future, it may be that we may be able to increase the number of the staff at the store.'
