A VARIETY of delicious produce will be on offer at a bumper Easter edition of Tavistock?s popular farmers? market this weekend. Bedford Square will be packed with the maximum of 20 stalls for the Easter market, with many traders bringing on special products for the holiday weekend. Farmers? market administrator Maria Jones said: ?Some of our regular traders are bringing in spring lamb, the WI stall will be doing Easter cakes, and I?m running an Easter egg competition ? if the children bring in their decorated eggs, they could win a prize.? Maria said there were some new traders to the market this weekend ? Wilderland Herbs and Mike?s Smokehouse, which specialises in hot-smoked salmon and paté. ?We had a lot of interest from traders from the Christmas period,? she said. ?We do have a waiting list, and I?ve got two pies and pasty people and some other cheese producers waiting to join us. It?s a very popular market ? people have come up to me and said, ?No matter what the weather is doing, customers always turn up in Tavistock? ? it?s always been a good market.? In addition to the array of produce at this Saturday?s market, Tavistock Conservation Group will be demonstrating the use of compost bins to shoppers.
