OLDER people in West Devon will have the chance to hear about housing issues in the district and talk about some of their wider concerns at an open meeting in Tavistock.
The Tavistock branch of the Senior Council for Devon, the voluntary county forum for people aged 50 and over, has invited West Devon Borough Council's housing strategy and policy officer, Debbie Bird, to explain what services are on offer from the local authority.
The Senior Council's group chairman, Martin Taylor, said: 'We are really pleased that Ms Bird has accepted our invitation to speak to our members and other older people, as housing is something that concerns us all.
'The meeting will provide the chance to debate some important points, and I'm sure it will flag up the hugely vital issue of forthcoming cuts to funding and services, and how we will all have to adapt to that new world.'
Ann Wilson, the senior council's group secretary said the occasion would also offer people the opportunity to share ideas on how they would like the Senior Council to develop.
The meeting, open to all, will take place at the Anchorage Centre in Chapel Street, Tavistock, on Friday July 2 from 11am to 1pm.
Tea, coffee and biscuits will be on offer from 11am. For more information contact the Anchorage Centre on 01822 616958.
