I WOULD like to hear from anyone who may have information regarding a Mr Cyril Hartley who in the 1920s was possibly an academic with connections in Lille, France.

He had served in World War One in the Machine Gun Corps, had been wounded and due to those wounds needed the Devon climate. He lived at Brook Mill Farm and possibly resided there for some years.

He had a sister, Sarah, and a brother Frank who was given an OBE after WWI for services in Iraq.

In the early 1920s Cyril would have been about 40 years of age.

All letters will be answered in confidence. I am writing a book about the Hartley family and any help would be gratefully received.
